Refugee
Being a refugee shaped Jesus' mission because he endured in a journey of terror forced to leave his home and go to a new place, but it was also a painful physical journey. The journey was rough because back in Jesus' time there were no paved roads, the journey was mostly desert where it was hot with little food and water. Jesus and his family were forced to leave because of religious, political, and ethnic persecution. They were constantly in fear and feeling as if there was no hope . I think that what Jesus went through as he was living as a refugee constantly living in fear and hopelessness, made him want to help others like him not go through the same dehumanization he did. The refugees are striped from everything they had and normally that was not much. Most of Jesus' missions are portraying helping people that are poor, sick, and not accepted. We really never see Jesus trying to help rich people. I think that because Jesus went through what his people went through he wanted to change it and help those he could because he could relate to them. When people go through something hard in their lives it changes the way they think in that they want to prevent what happened to them because they know that what happened to them was wrong and needed to end. Most refugees are very strong and it builds their character and makes them more aware because they have seen the other side.
