Portfolio 2: Good Samaritan Interpretation

A lawyer comes to Jesus asking him what he needs to do to have eternal life. Normally people who are good don't necesarily need to ask the question because they live with compassion, while normally people who aren't so good need to ask what they need to do ,because they just want the solution for life instead of figuring it out. The lawyer is trying to question God to see if he really knows what he's doing and to prove to God he in some way is better and know's everything about life just because he interprets the Torah. Jesus flips the question around and adresses a problem that people feel because they do not know someone or because they think they are better then them that they isolate them and build up a wall ,and also feel that they can do what ever they want to do to those people. The higher and elite status people build a wall because they don't want to loose their power. They only think about themselves and what might happen to them instead of what might happen to the person if i don't help them, which is the question we need to address. His critisism is that you need to live and see with compassion. He uses an example of someone that is alive as a human because they see with compassion and understanding of what that person is going through. His solution ultimatly is if you truly want to live then see with compassion and don't build a fence around yourself.
